Helicopter Volcano Views in Bali - Mount Agung & Batur from Above
Seeing Bali volcanoes from the ground is impressive, but from a helicopter it is absolutely breathtaking. Here is what you will see on a volcano flight.
Mount Agung, at 3,031 meters, is Bali highest and most sacred volcano. From a helicopter, you can safely approach the crater rim and look down into the caldera. On clear days, you can see steam rising from volcanic vents and the distinct layers of volcanic rock.
Mount Batur is equally spectacular from the air. The ancient caldera is massive -- 13.8 km by 10 km -- and contains both the active volcano cone and the beautiful crescent-shaped Lake Batur. From above, you can see the black lava flows from previous eruptions contrasting with the green vegetation.
The helicopter flight between the two volcanoes crosses the central highlands of Bali, giving you views of terraced rice paddies, jungle-covered hills, and traditional villages that are impossible to see from the road.
