Photography Flight
Designed for photographers and content creators. Doors-off option available, extended hover time at key locations, and a pilot who knows every angle. Capture Bali like never before with unobstructed aerial views.
About the Photography Flight
The Photography Flight is built around one requirement: get the shot. Sixty minutes over Bali's most photogenic landscapes, with extended hover time at key locations, an optional doors-off configuration for unobstructed shooting, a pilot who knows every angle and light position, and a vibration-reduction system that gives you sharp images at shutter speeds that would otherwise produce motion blur. For photographers, this is the flight that changes your portfolio.
Flight Highlights
Technical Configuration for Aerial Photography
Standard helicopter flights have the aircraft in constant forward motion, which limits your time over each landmark and requires shooting through perspex windows. The Photography Flight is different in three ways: first, extended hover time at key locations gives you 2-3 minutes over each landmark rather than the standard 20-30 seconds of a passing flight. Second, the doors-off option removes the physical barrier between the camera and the subject, eliminating window glare, distortion, and reflection artifacts that affect all in-cabin shots. Third, our pilot uses a vibration-dampened aircraft configuration that reduces the mechanical shake transmitted to camera equipment at close-to-hover flight speeds.
The Route and Location Prioritization
You choose the priority locations for your Photography Flight. We have three standard photography route options: the Coastline Route (Uluwatu, Tanah Lot, Canggu surf), the Cultural Route (Tegallalang rice terraces, Ubud temples, Ayung canyon), and the Volcanic Route (Mount Agung, Besakih, Lake Batur caldera). You can also combine elements across routes or design your own. We will discuss your specific photographic goals — what subjects, what light conditions, what perspectives — and plan the route to maximize the shots you need. If you are working to a specific brief (editorial, commercial, or social media), send us examples of the references beforehand and we will design the route around them.
Doors-Off Operation
The doors-off configuration removes one or both rear doors from the aircraft, giving rear-seat passengers direct, unobstructed access to the outside air and completely unrestricted camera movement. There are no windows, no reflections, no distortion — just you, your camera, and the view. Doors-off operation requires a safety harness for all passengers (provided), a pre-flight briefing on doors-off safety procedures, and advance arrangement (minimum 48 hours notice). Not all photographers need doors-off — our windows are optically clear and give very good results. But for professional editorial or commercial work where image quality is paramount, doors-off produces noticeably better results.
For Professional Photographers and Content Creators
We have worked with photographers shooting for international travel publications, commercial clients, and social media platforms with significant following. We understand that professional aerial photography has specific requirements beyond the experience of a leisure flight. Tell us your publication, your client, your platform, or your creative brief when you book. We will adapt the flight to your workflow — whether that means a specific sequence of locations for a story arc, extended time over a single location for different light and angle variations, or a specific compass heading to get the light on one face of a subject. Our pilots are experienced aerial photography guides, not just tour pilots.

Frequently Asked Questions
What camera settings work best for aerial photography over Bali?
For in-motion shots over landscapes, we recommend shutter speeds of at least 1/1000 sec to eliminate vibration blur. For hover shots in good light, 1/500 sec is generally sufficient. Set ISO to auto with a ceiling around 800 for the clearest skies and sea. For the coastline with white surf and blue water, expose for the midtones and recover the highlights in post — the default metering tends to underexpose the water. Golden hour requires faster adjustment as the light changes quickly.
Is a drone permitted during the helicopter flight?
No. Drone operation during the helicopter flight is prohibited for safety reasons. The rotor downwash and the aircraft's flight path create hazardous conditions for unmanned aircraft. If you want both drone and helicopter aerial footage, the drone work needs to be done separately from a ground location or a dedicated drone flight.
What is the best time of day for aerial photography over Bali?
Golden hour — the 30-60 minutes after sunrise and before sunset — produces the most dramatic light. Morning golden hour (around 06:30-07:30) is excellent for the rice terraces and the eastern slopes of the volcanoes. Evening golden hour (around 17:00-18:00) is spectacular for the western coastline, Tanah Lot, and the Indian Ocean. We can schedule your Photography Flight to start at golden hour or to reach a specific location during the optimal light window.
Can I pre-see the route on a map before the flight?
Yes. During the pre-flight consultation, we can show you the planned route, the waypoints, the hover locations, and the approximate compass headings so you can plan which side of the aircraft to sit on for each segment. We can also provide coordinates for the main locations so you can research them in Google Earth beforehand.
Is it safe to fly in a helicopter over Bali?
Absolutely. Our helicopters are maintained to international aviation standards with regular inspections. All pilots hold commercial helicopter licenses with thousands of flight hours. We carry full aviation insurance and comply with Indonesian civil aviation regulations.
How do I book a helicopter tour?
Simply send us a WhatsApp message with your preferred tour, date, number of passengers, and hotel/pickup location. We'll confirm availability and arrange everything within minutes.
What is the maximum number of passengers?
Our helicopters accommodate up to 4 passengers per flight, depending on the aircraft. For larger groups, we can arrange multiple flights or coordinate timing so everyone flies on the same day.
