Bali's position in the tropics, at approximately 8 degrees south of the equator, means the sun sets due west over the Indian Ocean year-round. The Flight Route at Sunset

The Sunset Flight departs approximately 60-75 minutes before sunset, timed to be over the western coastline as the sun nears the horizon. The route follows the western coast from Seminyak north toward Canggu, then out over the water briefly before turning south to approach Tanah Lot. The temple on its rock island, backlit by the setting sun, is the defining image of the Bali sunset helicopter experience. The flight then continues south along the coast as the sky continues to change color after the sun sets — the 10-15 minutes after sunset often produce the most intense colors, as the sky goes through oranges and purples before darkening.
